Located at Savage, MT, 20 miles southwest of Sidney, MT, the Savage Mine opened in 1958. It produces 250,000 tons of lignite annually.

Owned and operated by the Dakota Westmoreland Corporation, Beulah, ND.

The mine's principal customers are Montana-Dakota's Lewis & Clark Station and a sugar beet processing facility, both located at Sidney, MT.
